لقيت عملية التدخل العسکري الأمريکي في العراق عام 2003م على مبارکة عالمية من الدول العظمى، وأيضا هناک شبه موافقة من قبل منظمات دولية کمنظمة الأمم المتحدة ومجلسها مجلس الأمن الذي تقع عليه مهمة حفظ السلم والأمن الدوليين وضمان عدم الإعتداء بين الدول الأعضاء في المنظمة، وذلک بالسکوت أزاء التدخل في العراق لعدم التصويت من قبل اعضاء مجلس الأمن الخمسة دائمي العضوية وأستخدام روسيا حق الفيتو أزاء التصويت، لکن التاثير الحاصل على قرار المنظمة من قبل الدولة المضيفة لها جعل رد فعلها ضعيف جداً مقارنة بما يجب أن تنتهجه وتسلکه للدفاع عن الدول الصغرى المُعتدى عليها من قبل الدول الکبرى کأمريکا وبريطانيا قائدي التحالف الذي شن الاحتلال على العراق.
